Using a map that is still in beta

Alpmap is a planning and visualisation tool. Coverage and connectivity vary by layer and region. A displayed route or connection is not confirmation of access, suitability, current conditions or permission to travel there.

Aerial imagery is not live snow coverage. Lift and piste opening status is not connected. Sun and shade estimates describe modelled terrain exposure, not a weather forecast; slope angle is not avalanche danger. Check current official information, local restrictions and conditions when planning a trip.

The website requires an internet connection for terrain and imagery. The iPhone beta can use completed terrain and imagery downloads within bounded Verbier coverage; cloud services and features outside a completed download still need a connection. See offline coverage, detail and limitations. Beta features may change or be temporarily unavailable; keep a separate copy of plans you need.

Map data and attribution

swisstopo / geo.admin.ch
Swiss terrain, aerial imagery, buildings and official ski-tour data are attributed to swisstopo. Online Swiss search and elevation use geo.admin.ch services. See swisstopo’s reuse terms. Dataset-specific credits remain visible in the map and layer details.
OpenStreetMap
Places, restaurants, hiking paths, pistes and lifts include © OpenStreetMap contributors data under the Open Database Licence. Snapshots can be incomplete or out of date. Their presence does not establish a business’s opening hours or ski access.
CesiumJS
The 3D map uses the open-source CesiumJS engine. Engine licensing is separate from the terms governing the imagery and geographic data.

Attribution identifies our data sources. It does not imply that those organisations endorse Alpmap. Exporting or reusing source data remains subject to the applicable licences and credits. App and service terms do not limit rights granted under separate licences for identified third-party map data. Each licence covers only its identified dataset or component, not other imagery, map data or the Alpmap software.

Downloaded maps retain source notices on the iPhone. Where a map identifies ESA WorldCover 2021 or Copernicus GLO-30 as a source for lower-detail surroundings, its notice describes the source, Alpmap’s modifications and the separate licence. A source notice does not mean that every region is available to download.

Your routes and linked services

A route you save to your Alpmap account is private to that account. Sharing a view or exporting a GPX file gives you a copy or link that you can choose to send to others. Do not share someone else’s private location or account details without permission.

Third-party links lead to services operated independently of Alpmap. Their own terms and privacy practices apply when you use them.
